01JAN23 - Happy New Year I guess. Hoisted the flag at sunrise and have been fooling around with Ruby's batteries, i.e., charging ever since. That's a longer story for the next slide. But since we're down to two vehicles, one of which isn't really a "daily" so the truck is the current primary means of transportation with Jen's car in the shop for a few more days. It's me and my karma, I know it. :-)
I discovered the problem after attempting to do a Sync software update via a USB stick on the truck. I did Sarah first, no problem, but it did take thirty-five minutes with accessory power on.
Next, I go through the same process with Ruby and the update started normally. When I came out ten minutes later to check on things, everything was dark. I touched the Start button and I got a ".. the system is limiting power to save the battery" message or something like that. HUH? WTFO?
I tried to start her and only got half a crank. DAMMIT. Treked to Shed 2 to get the charger and my battery cleaning tools, products, back to the garage, disconnected both batteries, cleaned the terminals and connectors, and started charging.
Gave the first one two hours and now the second one is about an hour into its charge. HOPEFULLY, this will get her started and if so, I plan to go for an extended cruise somewhere for about a half an hour or so to make sure they're both fully charged, or close. The BMS will probably take some time to figure out the actual state of charge for both but that's NBD. Thing is, I should have this done under warranty which might take a week or longer. (I'll find out tomorrow.) Can't really do anything though until the Caddy comes home which I hope will be Tuesday.
Happy friggin' New Year, right? Grrr...
Saw the cattle on the walk first thing and then, at the other end of this pasture...
02JAN23 - A small but decent tulip, no stacks though.
All the exercise gave me an appetite.
..were the goats.
06JAN23 - HAPPY 70th to the old man!
I am slowly and I do mean slowly, getting ever so slightly better at "stacking layers" where you stop pouring, move back a bit, and pour again, forcing the new milk up against the old with a creme line (sort of) in between.
07JAN23 - I was hungry so before getting after a small project, I fixed up some pancakes and bacon. Actually made too many so I'll have to cut the recipe back a biit.
08JAN23 - This morning's attempt and I think this was my first SUCCESSFULLY triple-stacked tulip.
03JAN23 - I have this meal down but I should have added bacon. :-)
We saw these two big guys on the walk yesterday.
15JAN23 - Started the morning off properly yesterday with some most delicious scrambled eggs, toast, and OJ. DEElicious.
22JAN22 - Yet another cool date. So..
This photo is of Mount Everest shot in May of 2019 and from what I read, the image went viral. No surprise.
Apparently, there are only a handful of days each year when the weather is dramatically better than the rest of the year and has to do with the jet stream dropping down in lattitude. These are the ONLY days that it is "smart" aka "reasonably safe" to attempt a summit.
But holy smoke, right?! There must be a couple hundred individuals in that line and it immediately reminded me of a popular ride at a park. Compare that with..
Sir Edward Hillary on his successful attempt. Quite a difference in a hundred years or so.
This is a recent shot of the summit.
28JAN23 - This is what our island has looked like for at least a couple weeks thanks to a broken espresso machine..AGAIN! I swear I got a lemon but the seller who has been helping with troubleshooting, would rather blame me and our "hard" water.
After over a week of exchanging email directing me to check the continuity of a gizmo inside the machine, they tell me "We checked with Elektra and that device is built in to the heating element now." Not a single "sorry" for the wild good chase. (Grrr)
So, once again the failure is the heating element but as if that were not enough, the damn double pressure gauge failed along with the circuitry that controls the internal water reservoir. Definitely a lemon. They're sending a new element and gauge that hopefully will be here early next week.
