22SEP09 - Our 15-year old, 65" Sony rear projection box has been showing its age for a good while now but we wanted to keep waiting for flat panel prices to fall. Then, a couple weeks ago, a friend of ours called to say that Sam's had an unbelievably good price on a Samsung plasma so I surfed the Web a bit and we then went out to have a look.

He was correct and I was astounded at how the prices had fallen on large LCD and plasma displays. Truth be told, I thought plasmas would ge a thing of the past in the near future but apparently, the opposite has happened and the plasmas are driving down the prices of LCD's. Whatever the reason, we were able to get this 58-inch unit for way less than half what they were a couple years ago and we're loving it.

I managed to find a monstrous wall mount specifically for corner installations that also had an integral two glass shelves. It was a major PITA to install but in the end, it worked out well and we're both very happy with the result.
