And after more than a week of work, here's the final setup and other than snugging up the two brass unions and the two female adapters that join the copper to the PVC, there were no leaks. Even better, both controllers worked as advertised and in no time at all the house was on soft and very well-filtered water.

I of course had to take a shower to enjoy the new soft water and Jen's first choice was to run the dishwasher to see how much better the plates and glassware looked. Needless to say, we're very happy with the end result.
